Some, Any, Every and No: Which Body’s Job Is it, Anyway?

Like most parables, the story of four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody is timeless and relatable. If you’ve been in the business world for more than a year (or even just lived a little bit of life), you’ll have experienced this yourself at least once…

An Important Job

There was an important job to be done one day, and Everybody was asked to do it. Everybody was sure Somebody would do it. Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it. Somebody got angry about that, because it was Everybody’s job. Everybody thought Anybody could do it but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn’t do it. It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

Did you manage to follow that? Did it raise a smile (or perhaps a shudder) of recognition?

Clarity: An Essential Ingredient For A Productive Office

Using Way We Do helps you get all that operational knowledge out of your head, and into a format that gives you, and your team, all the clarity you need to get everything done that needs to be done: From the simplest ad hoc tasks, through to the complex activities that keep your business on top of its game.

In a Way We Do world, Everybody has a clearly defined role. Using Activated Checklists, Somebody can assign tasks and responsibilities for regular jobs and processes, and Anybody can see where they stand at any stage. And if Nobody does anything, Anybody and Everybody can see what’s happening via the checklist’s progress and reminders, so they’re ready to respond at the appropriate time.

At the end of the process, if Somebody identifies something that can be improved, they can update the checklist, with the changes immediately reflected across the system. That way, Everybody can be confident they’re doing the right things the right way, the next time that important job needs to get done.

Building An Independent Team

Time is a precious commodity when you’re building a business, and as business owners, it’s easy to get caught in the “It’s quicker to do it myself” mindset. But while you may have started out working in all the organizational roles in your business, your job is to gradually fill those roles with team members so you work less IN your business, and more ON it. (Yes, I’m talking about those eMyth Revisited principles again.)

Way We Do helps you empower your own team to work independently, with confidence and clarity, and minimal involvement from you. A strong, independent business will free you up to pursue your greater vision. (You remember: The one you had when you first started out in business?)
