At Way We Do, we recognize that the future of business is powered by technology, and with this comes a significant responsibility to protect our planet. As we continue to innovate, utilizing AI and other technology to transform business processes, we are acutely aware of the impact that these technologies have on the environment.
Since December 2021, Way We Do has been donating 1% of all subscriptions and service invoices transacted through Stripe to the Stripe Climate Fund, as part of our ongoing commitment to sustainability. This pledge helps fund sustainable carbon removal technologies, allowing us to contribute to the global effort to reduce atmospheric carbon. With the growth of AI and technology, which increases energy consumption, we recognize the importance of offsetting our environmental impact and are proud to continuously support solutions that help mitigate climate change.
Why This Matters
The rise of AI and technology in business brings with it an increased demand for electricity. As AI technologies continue to evolve, so too will their energy consumption. At Way We Do, while we have integrated small amounts of AI into our platform, we expect this to grow in the future. As responsible business owners, we understand the importance of balancing innovation with environmental stewardship.
We chose to partner with the Stripe Climate Fund because they focus on durable carbon removal technologies selected in collaboration with scientific experts. 100% of the contributions we direct through Stripe go toward purchasing these technologies through Frontier, which aims to help fund and scale cutting-edge solutions to capture carbon from the atmosphere.
Supporting Our Customers’ Environmental Goals
Many of our customers are certified in environmental management systems, and we know that reducing carbon footprints is increasingly important to them. Additionally, supply chains are becoming more focused on sustainability and environmental responsibility. By making this pledge, Way We Do is not only reducing its own carbon footprint but also enabling our customers to demonstrate their commitment to sustainability.
We believe that this contribution is an essential step in supporting businesses that are seeking to make a tangible impact on the environment, and we are proud to stand alongside them as they work towards reducing their carbon footprints.
July 2025 Update: Way We Do’s Latest Contributions to Cutting-Edge Carbon Removal Projects
Way We Do’s recent contributions have helped fund three impactful carbon removal projects, collectively aimed at removing over 225,000 tons of CO₂ from the atmosphere over the next six years:
- Hafslund Celsio (Norway): The company is retrofitting its waste-to-energy facility in Klemetsrud with a CO₂ capture unit. The captured CO₂ will be temporarily stored at Oslo Harbour, then shipped to the North Sea for permanent sequestration beneath the seabed.
- Eion: This project accelerates mineral weathering by mixing silicate rocks into soil, with farmers applying the pelletized product to increase carbon storage. The carbon is then transferred to the ocean, where it is permanently stored as bicarbonate.
- Phlair: Developing an energy-efficient electrochemical method for direct air capture, Phlair’s technology is designed to integrate with intermittent renewable energy sources like solar, further enhancing its scalability and impact on carbon removal.
Jacqui Jones, CEO of Way We Do, on Responsibility
Jacqui Jones, CEO of Way We Do, is guided by the belief…
“For I have seen, I am responsible.”
We understand that while the climate crisis is too big for any one individual, one business, or one country to solve alone, we each have a role to play. By contributing to the Stripe Climate Fund, Way We Do is doing our part, no matter how small, to help mitigate the impact of climate change.
At Way We Do, we are committed to being responsible stewards of the environment, and we invite our partners, customers, and fellow businesses to join us in making a collective difference. Together, we can reduce our global carbon footprint and contribute to a sustainable future.
